Community Connections

Community Connections provides opportunities for the community participation of the persons supported. The scope of these services is based on the identified needs of the individual. A person may participate in a variety of community life experiences or interactions that may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leisure or recreational activities
  • Communication activities
  • Spiritual activities
  • Cultural activities
  • Educational activities
  • Vocational pursuits
  • Access and utilization of public transportation
  • Community collaborations and social connections

Family Support Coordinator

Working together with the Family Support Institute to:

  • Find support for families in Williams Lake
  • Develop and facilitate local family support groups
  • Facilitate workshops within the organization

Summit Opportunity / Drop-In Centre

Is a day program offering recreational/ community orientated activities, volunteering program and a music program. The Centre provides other in house activities and games. There are opportunities for all individuals to optimize their personal and social competency. Any person affected by a developmental disability can access the Drop-In Centre. Hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday- Friday.


Supported Living

Supported Living primarily provides self help services to individuals usually living in their own homes, or with a caregiver or family. Supported living services are generally long-term in nature, but may change in scope, duration, intensity or location as the needs and preferences of the individual change over time.


Community Employment

This program is designed to support adults with developmental disabilities success as independent workers within their community. To help them find meaningful, paid employment. JOB COACH assists these individuals who have potential for independent employment, but need specialized, short term, on the job support and training to succeed. JOB COACH provides:

  • One on one training at the worksite
  • Short term training leading to the individuals independence
  • Long term follow up

Family Care Home Network

Provides persons supported the opportunity to move from a staffed residence to a family home in the community. Individuals are appropriately matched with families and families are monitored and supported. Respite is also available.


Community Housing

Community Housing addresses the desires, goals, strengths, abilities, needs, health, safety and life span issues of the persons supported. These services are designed to assist individuals to achiieve success in and satisfaction with community living. Community housing enhances the idependence, dignity, personal choice and privacy of the persons supported.


STEPS

Is an innovative way of allowing people with disabilities to access computer based education and communication tools for work and everyday life. STEPS offer pre –employment training and workshops including: computers, personal care, self esteem and many others.

This program offers one on one training as well as interactive group courses. Each course is based on the individuals needs and wants.


Mobile Crew

The MOBLIE CREW provides employment and training opportunities to allow individuals to develop employment skills. There are several supervised work group sites working within our community. Work group sites include lawn maintenance, garbage and debris removal, refundable pickups and a variety of others.

Goals of the supported Mobile Crew are:

  • To educate and prepare individuals for employment
  • To provide an opportunity for the community to recognize an individual’s strengths and abilities
  • To provide ongoing support and evaluation of participants in our program
